THE intruders fighting alongside self-styled Sulu crown prince Azzimudie @ Agbimudin Kiram are mercenaries.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this was corroborated by the Philippine government when he met the country's Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario and Department of National Defence Secretary Voltaire T. Gazmin.

"We received similar feedback from the Philippine government that the armed men were paid to carry out the attacks in Sabah.

"We have learnt that they are used to carrying weapons and have done so since the 1970s during the armed struggle helmed by Nur Misuari, the founding chairman of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF),"

Satu juta bujang tak daftar BR1M

Ipoh 23/12/2012: Lebih sejuta individu bujang yang layak menerima Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) 2.0 didapati masih belum mendaftar.

Serentak itu, Menteri Kewangan Kedua, Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, menggesa mereka yang belum mendaftar termasuk ketua isi rumah yang tercicir daripada senarai penerima BR1M lalu, supaya segera mengemukakan permohonan sebelum 31 Disember ini.

“Kerajaan akan mula membuat pembayaran pada suku pertama tahun depan untuk mereka yang mendaftar sebelum akhir tahun ini.

“Justeru, kita menasihati mereka supaya mendaftar segera kerana jika lewat, mereka akan lewat menerima pembayaran,”

TRANSPORT MINISTER UNDER FIRE FROM SABAH LEADERS

Transport Minister under fire from Sabah leaders

KOTA KINABALU 20/12/2012: The Ministry of Transport (MOT) has come under fire from Sabah leaders over the shutdown of work by Global Upline Sdn Bhd (GUSB), the contractor of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) development.

Barisan Nasional (BN) Putatan member of parliament Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh was of the opinion that GUSB’s statement about the reason why it had stopped work on the airport expansion project proved that the Transport Ministry is irresponsible.

He was also worried about the safety aspects of the airport based on GUSB’s statement which read, ‘in the interest of safety to aircraft operation and passengers alike, we would like to inform the public that the runway is not safe for landing, take-off and other operation since it has been certified non-complete by MOT. The runway shall be forthwith closed for operation’.

KUALA LUMPUR 6 Dis. - Kementerian Kesihatan akan meningkatkan usaha pengesanan penyakit tibi dalam kalangan warga asing yang didapati menjadi pembawa utama penyakit itu di Sabah.

Timbalan Menteri Kesihatan, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin (gambar) berkata, setakat sembilan bulan pertama tahun ini, jumlah kes tibi yang dilaporkan di negeri itu adalah sebanyak 3,275 kes.

Menurut beliau, penularan kes tibi di Sabah dikesan sejak 2005 iaitu sebanyak 3,395, bertambah kepada 3,728 kes (2010) dan terus meningkat kepada 3,794 kes pada 2011.

"Pertambahan kes tibi ini juga disebabkan aktiviti pengesanan kes yang cukup agresif sejak kebelakangan ini,"

Ongkili visits murdered teen's family

Kota Marudu 29/11/2012: Kota Marudu MP Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili visited the parents and family members of a 16-year-old schoolgirl, suspected of being murdered, at their home here, Wednesday, to express his condolences.

Ongkili, who is also Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, assured the family that the police were conducting a thorough and speedy investigation into the death of Norikoh Saliwah whose body was found by the roadside, near Kampung Ranau, on Sunday. Ongkili, who visited the family at their home in Kampung Bombong 1 with Tandek Assemblyman Anita Baranting, had been briefed by the district police on the case on Tuesday night.

"The post-mortem has revealed a cracked skull but no sign of rape on the victim.

"Police have not ruled out that she might have been killed and a suspect has been arrested," he said.

Almost half of OCPDs in Sabah are locals

Kota Kinabalu 28/11/2012: Eight of the 20 police districts in Sabah are currently headed by Sabah-born police officers, according to Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wira Abu Seman Haji Yusop.

He said three of them are heading Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau Police Districts each with the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), while the rest are in Keningau, Kinabatangan, Papar, Semporna and Sipitang each with the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

In terms of ethnic background, he said two of them are Dusun, while another two Kadazan, two Malays, one Murut and a Bajau.

PENAMPANG 5/11/2012: United Pasokmomogun KadazanDusun Murut Organization (UPKO) leaders had discussed the issue of leaving Barisan Nasional (BN).

According to its president, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, the issue had been discussed and deliberated by UPKO’s Supreme Council during its meeting but it was decided that the party would stay in BN.

Dompok said this when asked to comment on the claims by former UPKO leaders Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing and Datuk Maijol Mahap that the party was on the verge of quitting BN.

KUALA LUMPUR 31/10/2012: Malaysian workers, according to the Human Resources Ministry, is not at risk even with over 1.4 million foreign workers here.

Deputy HR minister, Senator Maznah Mazlan, said that 1.403 million foreigners here held the Temporary Employment Visit Pass, contributing to 11.2% of Malaysia’s total workforce.

“According to MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission), Chia was never arrested in Hong Kong... that is the MACC’s answer.

“And (Hong Kong’s) ICAC (Independent Commission Against Corruption) never caught Michael Chia,”

Jaclyn atau nama sebenarnya Jaclyn Joshua Thanaraj Victor, 33, berkata, dia menyanyikan lagu itu dalam Bahasa Malaysia bukan bertujuan untuk menyebarkan agama berkenaan tetapi dikhususkan kepada penganut Kristian di Sabah dan Sarawak.

"Saya hanya menjalankan tanggungjawab sebagai seorang penganut Kristian dengan menyanyikan lagu berkenaan kepada orang Kristian di Sabah dan Sarawak. Kebanyakan mereka di dua negeri itu lebih faham Bahasa Malaysia.

"Dan sebagai sebuah negara yang mengamalkan kebebasan beragama, isu tersebut tidak seharusnya dipertikaikan,"

1,681 JURURAWAT KOLEJ SWASTA DAPAT KERJA

Kuala Lumpur 20/10/2012: Seramai 1,681 daripada 8,000 jururawat lulusan kolej swasta yang menganggur akan diserapkan di sebanyak 130 hospital kerajaan bermula akhir tahun ini.

Pengambilan akan diteruskan sehingga 6,724 jururawat diserap ke hospital kerajaan menjelang 2015 dan bakinya dicadang mengikuti skim penempatan singkat atau skim latihan 1Malaysia (SL1M) bagi membolehkan mereka bekerja dengan hospital swasta, termasuk di luar negara.

KUALA LUMPUR 11/10/2012: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has cleared Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and timber trade “deal maker” Michael Chia of allegation of corruption involving timber licences, the Dewan Rakyat was told on Tuesday.

“The Attorney-General's (AG) Chambers had studied and examined the evidence from the MACC and found that there was no element of corruption in the case.

“The funds were actually contributions made to the Sabah Umno liaison body and not for the personal use of the Chief Minister,”

Nazri: Large number of foreigners in Sabah not a threat

KUALA LUMPUR 2/10/2012: The presence of 889,770 legal and illegal foreigners in Sabah is not a threat to the country or the state's security and order, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.

He said that while national population growth was 2.5% annually, the growth in Sabah was higher.

"The population growth rate is higher in Sabah compared to Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia for several reasons, including the presence of illegal immigrants from neighbouring countries," he said in response to a question by Datuk Seri Wilfred Mojilip Bumburing (Tuaran) on whether the presence of 800,000 foreigners in Sabah posed a threat to national safety and security.
