“Sebagai sebuah syarikat, tanggungjawab kami adalah menguruskan sumber tenaga dan bukannya menyebarkan kekayaan,”

Tolak royalti 20%, PAS Sabah bidas Shafie Apdal

OUR OIL FIELDS ARE RUNNING DRY?

OUR OIL FIELDS ARE RUNNING DRY?

25/10/2012: PETRONAS recently came up with some very lame excuses including the diminishing assets and/or maturing fields’ arguments to hoodwink the people of East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak). For many decades now East Malaysians have been treated like fools and simpletons to believe that our oil fields are running dry.

With new technology especially in exploration and drilling, our potential oil reserves are a lot more than we are being made to believe.

KOTA KINABALU 22/10/2012:  Datuk Syed Abas Syed Ali (BN-Balung) has called for a doubling of Sabah’s oil royalty payments by Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) from the present five per cent, saying it would enable more effective implementation of the state’s development agenda.

“Failing that, a 50 per cent increase to 7.5 per cent would also be good. I am confident this matter can be negotiated, and the increase need not be implemented immediately,”

Legal action threat over oil, gas rights

KOTA KINABALU 20/10/2012: State Reform Party (Star) Sabah is giving the State Government six weeks to restore ownership rights of Sabah’s oil and gas resources, or the people would proceed with legal action, according to its chairman Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan.

He told a press conference at TNGC Beverly Hills yesterday that Petronas missed the point when it acted as if it was the sole custodian of Malaysia’s oil and gas.

“THE OIL ROYALTY MUST GIVE JUSTICE TO EVERYONE, THIS IS A FREE GIFT FROM GOD, SO EVERY PERSON MUST HAVE A FAIR SHARE.” - JIMMY

Jimmy issues a challenge on oil royalty

KOTA KINABALU 20/12/2012: An opposition leader challenged Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman at the State Legislative Assembly sitting yesterday to show the courage to ask for an increase in the state’s oil royalty to at least 20 percent.

Sri Tanjung assemblyman Jimmy Wong said there was no use ‘scolding’ the opposition for asking the 15 percent increase from the existing five per cent oil royalty.

“The oil royalty must give justice to everyone, this is a free gift from God, so every person must have a fair share.”

Higher royalty won't affect Petronas: DAP

Kota Kinabalu 17/10/2012: Increasing the oil royalty from five to 20 per cent for all oil producing states in Malaysia is a piece of cake for such a big and profitable company like Petronas.

DAP Sabah Publicity Secretary, Chan Foong Hin, said there is no such thing that the increase in oil royalty would harm or affect the profit earnings of Petronas.

20% oil royalty is less than 1% of Petronas’ total asset – PKR

KOTA KINABALU 14/10/2012: PKR Central Council member cum PKR Sabah secretary, Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen criticised Petronas for its recent statement that an increase in “royalty” payments to states to 20 percent from current five percent will undermine its RM170 billion planned projects over the next five years and private sector investment in the oil and gas sector.

The oil producing states involved are Sabah, Sarawak, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Petronas-Sabah oil agreement challenged

image KOTA KINABALU September 25, 2012: Six Sabahans, including leaders from Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and PAS, have filed a suit against Petronas and the Sabah state government at the High Court here, seeking to declare the 1976 agreement between Petronas and the Sabah state government as null and void.

The group of six who called themselves “Royalty for Sabah”, are Zainal Ajamain, Michael Peter Govind, PAS leaders Lahirul Latigu, Mohd Julpikar Ab Mijan, and SAPP’s Dullie Mari and Joseph Wilfred Lakai.

OIL-RICH SABAH STILL THE POOREST

Oil-rich Sabah still the poorest

Sarawak and Sabah have been giving away oil for decades yet both share the 'honour' of being poor states.

September 7, 2012: The oil royalty re-negotiations which both Sabah and Sarawak chief ministers have suddenly agreed to would have to take into account history and the actual numbers earned by Petronas and the federal government.

It is vital that the leaders go into these discussions with Putrajaya knowing the true facts of the agreement and the events leading up to how both states were “coerced” into signing the agreements.

If I recall correctly, Sarawak commenced its oil production in the early 1900s. Sabah has been producing oil for 30 years now.

ANY SABAH OIL ROYALTY SHOULD BE AT LEAST 20PC

Any Sabah oil royalty should be at least 20pc

September 01, 2012: SUCH is the nature of politics in a democracy that the interest of the voters is best served by an effective system of checks and balances in which no politicians or political party can abuse power at their whims and fancies or treat the nation's resources like their own.

They should and must be made accountable for their actions and decisions.

All the economic progressive countries in the world, without exception, have a 2-party system or in the case of more than 2 parties, a bi-partisan system like in UK. The bottom-line reality is that no political leaders, left to their own devises, can be trusted in the long run without a rigorous system to ensure their good behaviour.

Voters should be on "high alert" when they start to say "trust us, don't trust them" or "we are the best for you" without saying anything specific.

NAJIB TO OFFER OIL ROYALTY HIKE?

Najib to offer oil royalty hike?

Fearing for his future, that of his party and ruling alliance, the PM has come to Sabah bearing gifts, according to Umno insiders.

KOTA KINABALU September 1, 2012: Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, fearing for his future, that of his party and ruling alliance, has come to Sabah bearing gifts, according to Umno insiders.

One of them is an offer of an increase in the 5% oil royalty the state presently gets which the opposition Pakatan Rakyat has pledged to raise substantially if it takes over Putrajaya in the next general election.

najib_6 According to the grapevine, Najib will announce the increased oil payments the state would receive for outflow of its resources.

However, while no figure was forthcoming, speculation is that the premier would offer “more than 10%” oil royalty to the must-win state for Barisan Nasional and Umno.

SABAH, SARAWAK SHOULD HAVE PANEL FOR ROYALTY REVIEW

Sabah, Sarawak should have panel for royalty review – Dompok

image PENAMPANG August 28, 2012: Sabah and Sarawak should have their own panel to look into the oil royalty review for both states, said United Pasokmomogun KadazanDusun Murut Organization (UPKO) president Tan Sri Bernard Dompok .

The Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister said this when asked to comment on the suggestion to have the two East Malaysian states included in the special committee to review the oil royalty paid to Terengganu and Kelantan by the federal government.

“Sabah and Sarawak should have their own panel to talk to the federal government. It is not necessary to be part of the panel for the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

Obviously the historical setting is quite different both for Sabah and Sarawak and the peninsula states. Therefore I think it is necessary to have a separate panel for these two (East Malaysian) states,” Dompok said.

‘MUSA MAKING SAME MISTAKE AS HARRIS’

‘Musa making same mistake as Harris’

Neither Chief Minister Musa Aman nor Taib Mahmud, has any right to re-negotiate the states' oil rights; 'only' the respective State Legislative Assemblies can do that.

KOTA KINABALU August 27, 2012: The Sabah Barisan Nasional government will be making the same “mistake” it did more than 30 years ago by agreeing to negotiate its oil rights with the federal government, a politician here has warned.

Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Liawan vice-chairman Joseph Wilfred Lakai said today that there was no necessity to re-negotiate terms between the East Malaysian states and the federal government on the Petroleum Agreement 1976 .

“Why should Sabah and Sarawak re-negotiate the Petroleum Agreement when even in the first agreement Malaya did not honour the terms?”
