KUALA LUMPUR 29/03/2013- Pengarah Imigresen Sabah Datuk Mohammad Mentek dilantik sebagai Pengarah Kawasan Keselamatan Khas Pantai Timur Sabah (Esscom) mulai 1 April.

Ketua Setiausaha Negara Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa ketika mengumumkan pelantikan itu hari ini, berkata Mohammad, 48, berpengalaman dalam bidang pembangunan dan pengurusan sumber manusia, kewangan dan keselamatan.

23/03/2013: The Sabah claim will continue to be raised by the Phlippines and Sulu as it is powerful and emotive international issue which many leaders from Manila will find convenient to bleed for political mileage. And the many “sultans” in Sulu will continue to cast their hungry eyes at Sabah, considered to be “the last gold coin” and aspire, albeit hopelessly, to try and achieve the impossible.

But Malaysians, especially Sabahans, should be able to give a cogent argument on the issue of this claim and in favour of Sabah.

MANILA, Philippines 20/03/2013- (UPDATE 3:40PM) A leading opposition party in Malaysia said Agbimuddin Kiram, the crown prince of Sulu who led more than 200 followers to press their claim to Sabah, is a Malaysian citizen and once served as assistant district officer of Kudat, Sabah. The sultanate confirmed he once worked there decades ago, but denied he is a Malaysian citizen.

KUALA LUMPUR (March 19): DAP has warned that over a quarter of Sabah's parliamentary seats, mostly in the state's east coast, have high concentrations of dubious voters.

DAP election strategist Ong Kian Ming told a press conference today seven of Sabah's 25 parliamentary constituencies have more than 10% of voters with "problematic" identification cards.

The seven seats are: Kalabakan (16.3%), Silam (15.2%), Tawau (14.4%), Putatan (11.5%), Semporna (11.3%), Batu Sapi (11.2%) and Libaran (10%).

LAHAD DATU 16/03/2013: Police believe that Azzimudie Kiram, leader of the Sulu gunmen, has fled to the Philippines but do not discount the possibility that he may be still lurking in Sabah, according to Sabah police commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib during a Saturday evening press conference.

“We will still continue operations and we will catch him if he is still here,” he told reporters.

He appeared to have backed away from his earlier certainty that Azzimudie had fled this week, possibly to one of islands off Tawi-Tawi.

Kota Kinabalu 21/01/2013: Former PBS Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Ariah Tengku Ahmad, 75, is glad that the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Illegal Immigrants in Sabah has at least provided the platform for truth to prevail.

She said if not for the inquiry's testimonies, the reality surrounding the controversial electoral results of the Kawang Constituency in the 1994 State Election was now made known to the world.

She praised the Najib administration for heeding the wishes of Sabahans for the inquiry and said it would help regain the trust of the people. Ariah, who was Kawang Assemblywoman from 1985 to March 1994, lost to then BN-Umno candidate, Datuk Osu Sukam, by a mere 64 votes.

"Winning an election through sheer deceit is no victory but a most dishonourable and condemnable act. Shame on you, Osu.

You did not deserve to win and go on to become the Chief Minister.

TAMPARULI 10/11/2012: The Royal Commission of Inquiry on the presence of illegal immigrants in Sabah must be allowed to carry out its job before the 13th general election.

Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) president Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred M Bumburing in making the call said this would ensure that the electoral rolls would be purged of illegal voters.

Speaking at a Pakatan Rakyat-APS public seminar here recently, the Tuaran member of parliament urged the federal government to let the RCI on illegal immigrants to completely carry out their functions and finish their job before the 13th general election was called.

“This will thereafter pave the way for the electoral rolls to be rectified and cleaned up by getting rid of any illegal voters. In this respect, the RCI must immediately begin their job in order to complete their job in time.

The 45-year-old local lectured for more than two years at the university before securing a contract as a consultant at a government department.

Commercial Crime Investigation Department sources said the man earned almost RM7,000 as a lecturer and RM15,000 as a consultant for more than three years.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 — The original gross national income (GNI) projections of Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) were slashed due to erroneous assumptions made during the initial estimates, said Pemandu today.

This comes after the ETP Annual Report was criticised by opposition-linked think tank Research for Social Advancement (Refsa) for not providing sufficiently detailed explanations for the large reductions in GNI impact and job creation of ETP projects.

Refsa said in a statement yesterday that, in the annual report, RM107.7 billion of gross national income (GNI) and 75,000 jobs equivalent to 45 per cent and 20 per cent of the respective original forecasts were “written off”, which they said raised questions about the level of due diligence exercised during the original forecasts.

In a press conference today, DAP’s publicity chief Tony Pua said that MCA-Labis MP Chua Tee Yong erred in his quest to attack Pakatan Rakyat.

He said that adding Talam’s debts and Selangor’s acquiring of its assets – worth RM676 million- was a case of “double-counting”.
