Pekadin mahu buku teks sejarah dikaji semula susulan kes Lahad Datu

KOTA KINABALU 26/03/2013- Persatuan Kebajikan dan Pendidikan Kadazandusun Murut Sabah (Pekadin) mahu Kementerian Pelajaran segera mengkaji semula kandungan buku teks sejarah Malaysia yang diajar di sekolah, terutama rentetan sejarah pentadbiran pra-kemerdekaan atau sebelum Sabah dan  Sarawak sama-sama membentuk persekutuan Malaysia.

Timbalan presidennya Nailin Gabintal berkata, terdapat keperluan yang mendesak untuk berbuat demikian ekoran kes pencerobohan pengganas, yang kononnya menuntut hak ke atas Sabah, di Lahad Datu baru-baru ini.

Katanya, buku teks sejarah Malaysia sedia ada lebih fokus kepada sejarah di Semenanjung Malaysia dan hanya sedikit sahaja sejarah mengenai Sabah dan Sarawak.

"Berdasarkan maklum balas dan tinjauan Pekadin, ramai generasi muda dan ada golongan dewasa yang masih 'samar-samar' fakta sejarah sebenar yang ada kaitan dengan kesultanan sulu sebelum Sabah mencapai kemerdekaan menerusi pembentukan negara Malaysia pada 16 September 1963.

KOTA KINABALU 27/12/2012: Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Sabah diminta untuk menjalankan siasatan terperinci berhubung berikutan insiden yang berlaku di hospital Lahad Datu, dimana pesakit warga tua telah dibekalkan ubat yang telah luput tempoh penggunaannya.

“Perkara seperti ini sepatutnya tidak akan berlaku dan ini harus dipandang serius oleh Jabatan berkenaan kerana ianya melibatkan kesihatan pengguna. Ubat yang digunakan selepas tarikh luput berkemungkinan besar bertukar menjadi bahan yang berbahaya yang boleh memudaratkan kepada kesihatan manusia,” kata Presiden Pertubuhan Hal Ehwal dan Perlindungan Pengguna Sabah (CAPS), James Baga .

BEAUFORT 24/12/2012: Persatuan Komuniti Bugis Sabah (PKBS) amat mengalu-alukan penubuhan Suruhanjaya Penyiasatan DiRaja untuk menjalankan siasatan terhadap status kewarganegaraan serta pengeluaran kad pengenalan.

“Persatuan ini akan memberi kerjasama kepada RCI kerana dalam proses penyiasatan itu nanti,” kata Presiden Persatuan it, Datuk Haji Osman Haji Jamal.

“Maksud kita di sini ialah untuk mengikis tanggapan beberapa pihak terhadap etnik Bugis di Sabah yang sudah tentunya RCI akan menjadi penentu kesahihan etnik Bugis sama ada mereka warganegara atau rakyat Malaysia,” katanya.

“Kita menyambut baik RCI supaya tidak ada lagi pihak-pihak yang cuba memperkotak-katikkan dan mempertikaikan kedudukan etnik Bugis di Negara ini,”

KOTA KINABALU September 9, 2012: An association chief has expressed puzzle as to why the locals have to apply for birth certificates and MyKads through a foreigner and not through the relevant departments.

Chairperson of Persatuan Pekedai Pekan Baru Koidupan, Wan Limbisah Wan Mohammad, asked why a local man had to apply for birth certificates and MyKads for his children through a foreigner if he could get them done through the government departments.

KOTA KINABALU August 31, 2012: Sabah ranked third in alcohol use in the country after Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak, according to a recent Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) survey.

Two-thirds of the drinkers in Sabah are consuming alcohol in a way which may put their health at risk, said UMS Senior Lecturer of Psychiatry Dr Wendy Shoesmith.

She said the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends less than two standard drinks on a single occasion, with one standard drink being equivalent to a can of beer or 70ml of montoku or 120ml of tapai.

He said clan associations often work with other clan associations in matters pertaining to the benefits of the Chinese community.

“I hope association leaders are open to different opinions and criticisms, rather than regarding different views as noise,” he said when officiating at the second installation ceremony of The United Society of GuangDong Province Association Sabah for year 2012-2014 here on Friday.

Its Sec-Gen OKK Yahya Ahmad Shah said it appears that the Land and Survey Department and Sabah Forestry Department were to be blamed for all the woes faced by the natives in Sabah.

"But there is no mention at all that native land rights are almost gone because of political masters' decisions and not the Land and Survey Department or Forestry Department.

"It is sickening to read time and time again about Suhakam inquiry on native land rights," he said in a statement.

Lajim, in his capacity as the President of the Sabah Bumiputera Cultural Heritage Association (Waris) and United Sabah Bisaya Association (PBBS), said Salleh's statement that the 20-Points was no longer valid since it had been incorporated in the Federal Constitution had deeply hurt the feelings of the people in both states.
