Sabah Registered Drastic Increase In Population Between 1990 And 2000 - Dompok
PENAMPANG, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (UPKO) president Tan Sri Bernard Dompok today claimed Sabah's population had increased drastically, especially between 1990 to 2000.
The drastic increase requires the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the presence of so many foreigners in the country that has contributed to the steep rise in population.
Dompok, who is also Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister revealed the details during his speech at the UPKO Triennial Delegates Congress meeting at the Penampang Cultural Centre here Saturday.
The Congress was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin while Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman was also present.
Dompok said the National Registration Department could not provide the data of actual number of Malaysians living in Sabah, to the Parliament Select Committee on Integrity in 2007 and now the perception among the people is that the government does not know how many Malaysians are living in Sabah.
He said in 1960, Sabah's population was 454,561 with 42 percent made up of Kadazandusun while the figure increased to 653,604 in 1970; 1,307,582 in 1980 and 1,736,902 in 1991.
In 2000 the population increased to 2,449,389 and by 2005, Sabah's population increased to 3,313,000 and registered the highest percentage of increase in population with 3.1 percent compared with the national percentage of 2.3 percent.

ONLY 1.6MIL IN SABAH ARE REAL M'SIANS
RCI is just an investigation, actual actions and solutions are still needed to resolve this problem.
BalasPadamTu la hasil PATI masuk Sabah, pertambahan penduduk. Bikin sempit saja durang tu.
BalasPadamRCI is the Sabah hope for the illegal immigration issue.
BalasPadamProgram 6P belum selesai lagi. tengok apa hasilnya nanti.
BalasPadamThis PTI is breeding like rabbits in Sabah!
BalasPadamDon't let the PTI outnumbered Sabahans. IM awaare that the gov is doing their best to eradicate the PTI issue but they could at least try the RCI.
BalasPadamWe should change our system like in China, they can only have one baby...
BalasPadamThe PATI keep on growing, this has to be stopped.
BalasPadamHope there is a stop to this, Sabah will be flooding with people.
BalasPadamThe main problem is the PATIs..
BalasPadamSabah will be as busy as Japan...
BalasPadam5P program about to end, we will see how the result then only decided to go on alternative.
BalasPadam"The drastic increase requires the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the presence of so many foreigners in the country that has contributed to the steep rise in population."
BalasPadamWe go with any best method that could solve the PATI issue effectively. Thinking that RCI would be the best.
BalasPadamPATI perlu ditangani. Kerajaan negeri perlu menangani sedikit demi sedikit sementara menunggu kelulusan RCI dari Kerajaan persekutuan.
BalasPadamNah inilah pendapatan dari kemasukan pati.. Bukan menuduh tapi kalau memang kenyataan, mcm mana. huhu
BalasPadamI think UPKO has repeated its call for thousand times already.
BalasPadamRCI can work as alternative solution against PATI. Anyway, lets wait for the 5P result.
BalasPadamKerajaan seharus sentiasa bersedia dengan cara lain jika 5P gagal menyelesaikan masalah seperti yang dijangka. Good luck.
BalasPadamMemang wajar tindakan UPKO.
BalasPadamI support UPKO's move.
BalasPadamUPKO memang peka.
BalasPadamWell, I hope it will be materialized asap.
