SEREMBAN: Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) lodged a police report here this morning in relation to several blog postings alleging that a Cabinet Minister had raped his Indonesian maid.

The report was made at the police headquarters here against the Minister based on postings on WikiLeaks as well as other blog postings, including bigdogdotcom.wordpress.com and rockybru.com.my recently.

It was made by SAMM coordinator Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard.

"The reason we are filing a report is to urge the police to investigate these allegations on the Internet that a Minister had committed the act in 2007," he told reporters.

He hoped the police would conduct a full probe to clear the Minister's name as well as ascertain the authenticity of the allegations.

"I urge the police to open a file on this matter as I would like to see some sort of action within 14 days," Badrul Hisham said, adding that SAMM would lodge a report everyday at each police district in Negri Sembilan.

"We made a report yesterday at the Jelebu police station and we shall proceed to another district tomorrow. If we see there is no action of any kind by the police on our report, we shall proceed to the second level of action."

Asked what he meant by this, Badrul Hisham said: "We will go to the masses to urge the authorities to take appropriate action.

"I would like to stress it's important for the police or the government to respond accordingly as this is a matter of our country's image and reputation."

Badrul Hisham said a police investigation could also clear the Minister's name. "A person is innocent until proven guilty. However, if the police do not investigate this case, it could cause questions to arise that Ministers are protected against certain crimes."

Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Osman Salleh, who confirmed the police received the report at 11.45am, said any investigation could only be conducted after they had gone through the report.

  1. Rais himself has denied the allegations and will give full cooperation during the investigation process. So politicians especially from opposition should not politicize this issue and let the police do their job.
