ONLY ONE CANCER TREATMENT MACHINE IN SABAH?
28/12/2012: DAP Sabah is extremely disappointed that Sabah health care welfare continues to be overlooked. Junz Wong, DAP Sabah State Assistant Secretary expressed disappointment at State Health department that they have not resolved the "one radiotherapy machine" issue since DAP Sabah has brought it up one year ago.
Junz disclosed that Ex-Director Dr Mohd Yusof Ibrahim has openly announced, in a newspaper replying to DAP Sabah, that Sabah would have three CT Scan machines by the end of 2012. Two machines would be sent to Likas Hospital while one would be sent to Lahad Datu Hospital.
"Today is 27 Dec and yet Sabah still face the same issue which we have raised a year ago via why there is only one cancer treatment machine in Sabah? Situation has worsened now that Sabahan patients are asked to look for private specialist for treatments!" Junz slammed.
Cancer patient turned away by 4 hospitals
Lau King Ngiuk, 71, and members of the family were informed by QEH doctors on Dec. 19 that she could not be treated with radiotherapy because the computer facility for radiotherapy planning was out of order.
However, QEH referred the patient to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment with the reason that the hospital's one and only treatment planning system had broken down. She was recommended to undergo concurrent chemoradiotherapy.

Sabah Transplant Resource Centre soon – director
KOTA KINABALU 09/12/2012: If everything goes well, a Sabah Transplant Resource Centre will be set up at Queen Elizabeth Hospital I soon.
Sabah Health Department director Dr Christina Rundi in disclosing this, hoped that through the setting up of the centre, they would be able to create greater awareness on the importance of organ donation among the people.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the Organ Donation Promotion Campaign for Sabah here yesterday, Christina said that apart from promoting the programme to the public, they must first educate their staff on the matter.
“It is important for the staff to understand organ donation to ensure the success of this programme,”
Labuan Bridge decision next year
KOTA KINABALU 21/11/2012: A decision on the proposal to construct a bridge linking Labuan and Menumbok, Sabah may be made next year, according to Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said the Government is currently carrying out a feasibility study on the project, and it includes effort to find an alternative location.
“There are a lot of things which need to be taken into consideration, including looking for an alternative location from the current proposed area which would cost the Government RM3 billion to build the bridge.
Sabah MP’s political fate hangs on rural roads
8/11/2012: Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN-Kinabatangan) today urged the Rural and Regional Ministry to build roads in his rural constituency, fearing that his constituents may be swayed by opposition promises to do so if they win.
“The opposition is coming to my constituency and saying that BN has failed to build the roads after 55 years and that they will do so if they win.
“Help convince me (that these roads will be built) so I can convince my voters,”

KOTA KINABALU 08 September 2012: FIREMEN rushing to get to a fire scene in Kampung Mokodou, 60km from Ranau, yesterday had to turn back as their vehicle could not pass through a bailey bridge, the only access to the village, as vehicles weighing five tonnes and above were not allowed to cross it.
With sirens blaring, they drove back to Ranau, got into a four-wheel drive and rushed back to the scene with six firefighters, only to be involved in the grim task of retrieving charred remains of three children in one of the two houses that were razed to the ground.
