"IT IS THE PEOPLE WHO WILL HAVE THE FINAL SAY IN THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION,"

For Rakyat to decide: LDP

May 20, 2010 Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Youth chief, Chin Shu Ying, said whether Sabah and Sarawak will remain the "fixed deposit" of Barisan Nasional is not for him, ex-Chief Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak or ex-Deputy CM Datuk Tham Nyip Shen to decide.

"It is the people who will have the final say in the next general election.

My only advice is for both of them to go down more often to the ground to listen to the voices of the people," he said in a statement, Wednesday.

He said there remains "many longstanding issues and problems in Sabah, which the State leadership has failed to solve until today".

"The illegal immigrants, shortage of electricity, hardcore poor problem, problematic and uncompleted railway track, uncompleted airport runway and flyover, corruption, lack of medical facilities, just to name a few.

"As such, it is our duty to voice out and bring to the attention of the leadership these issues and problems rather than sweeping everything under the carpet," he said.

Chin also claimed that LDP was not fighting against its BN partners but only against a few leaders in the coalition who go against the Prime Minister's concept of "People First, Performance Now" being fully adopted and implemented.

Chin was commenting on the statements by Salleh, who is also Sabah Umno deputy chief and Tham. Salleh is now the State Science Advisor, a post formerly held by Tham.

According to Chin, it was rather strange to see Tham, who claimed to be no longer with BN, to be campaigning in the Sibu by-election recently.

Chin also said instead of making all sort of accusations against a former leader, Tham should look into the mirror, especially on his accomplishments after being a senior leader for so many years.

"Although coming out from SESB, he can't even solve the problem of electricity shortage in Sandakan when he was Deputy Chief Minister and later State Science Adviser," he said.

  1. True...the decision is in the voters hand...its seems that saying Sabah will always be a fixed deposit to BN is a little bit over confident...they should always strive harder to serve the rakyat more, not by releasing this kind of statement...
