Ansari falls into the sea - again
Sandakan October 30, 2010: It was second time unlucky for Parti Keadilan Rakyat candidate Ansari Abdullah when he fell into the sea again - barely 72 hours from experiencing similar fate.
This time, he fell into the water, along with four other PKR campaigners, after a wooden walkway leading to a Kg Gas home here gave away at 3pm.
No one was hurt.
The 56-year-old lawyer fell several metres into the water just as he was about to step into a villager's house.
Khalid, however, managed to get into the house without getting wet as he managed to cling onto a wooden platform in the attempt to break his fall.
Several other campaign assistants - former Selangor football Manager Zakaria Hamid, Selangor PKR Communications Supervisors Mohd Nor Azman and Zahiruddin Nassir and Selangor PKR AMK, Azman Khiran - who were behind him also fell into the water.
They were rescued by villagers using a ladder.
Ansari left the village shortly after the incident for a medical check-up.
In the first stumble two days ago, Ansari was visiting Api-Api Island off the coast of Sandakan, where he fell after a wooden platform attached to the jetty fell into the sea.
He had said at that time that it was a bad omen for the Barisan Nasional as there were BN flags adorning the jetty.
Jeti dan Jambatan-jambatan ini digunakan setiap hari oleh penduduk tempatan dan calon lain juga menggunakannya, hanya Ansari seorang sahaja yang terjatuh dalam air dua kali.
