KOTA KINABALU May 3, 2012: Liawan assemblyman Datuk Sairin Karno who recently challenged Star Sabah chairman Datuk Jeffrey Kitingan to a debate on the 20 Points and Borneonisation, said Umno had solved all the problems in Sabah, and Sabahans should be thankful for that.
Speaking at the closing of ‘Program Khidmat Masyarakat Kursus Jahit-Menjahit’ at Menggatal multi-puropse hall near here yesterday, Sairin said land issues or even Borneonisation should not be a problem anymore in Sabah.
“Jeffrey is in high spirit to talk about Borneonisation among Sabahans, but in fact there are many Sabahans who are now holding ministerial posts in the federal government. Many director’s posts in many government departments in Sabah are also held by Sabahans.
“We should not allow outside mentality to be in our state, as Star is from Sarawak. We cannot trust outsiders to bring in this culture to Sabah. Just look at the Bersih rally, the opposition said it would be conducted peacefully but they turned violent, instead,” said Sairin who represented Rural Development Minister Datuk Ewon Ebin.
Sairin added Sabahans should be thankful to Umno for being in the State because the people have been treated with care an the opposition has no chance at all to seize Sabah from Umno.
He said Datuk Rubin Balang and Datuk Lajim Ukin must be appreciated for making the effort to allow Umno to be in power in Sabah.
Sairin added he would have never become an assemblyman without Umno because when he was in the United Sabah National Organisation (Usno), he had never won in the election until he joined the Peninsular Malaysia-based Umno.
Sairin also stressed that the people of Sabah should learn more history and appreciate it.
He added that Sabahans must appreciate the struggle of Tun Datu Mustapha Datu Harun for bringing independence to Sabah.
