Nine homeless after fire destroys two-storey house
RANAU Feb 14, 2012: A family of nine were made homeless after fire gutted their two-storey house in Kampung Nalumad yesterday. According to the house owner, Elly Ringgo, 56, who is a farmer, the family were at home in the morning when power supply was cut off. Suddenly they heard an explosion from the main switch on the first floor about 10am. Elly ran upstairs to check the explosion but was stopped by flames of fire which had started to spread. He immediately yelled at his family to leave the house.
They did not manage to save any belongings and estimated the loss to be around RM 70,000. The family is now residing in their neighbour’s house while awaiting assistance
The Fire and Rescue Services Department received the distress call at 10.55am and managed to put out the blaze at 12.01pm. It is investigating the cause of the fire and estimated loss of the house.
Sorry to hear that their house has been destroyed by the fire. Fortunately no one is hurt or dead from this incident.
