BN READY FOR POLITICAL DEBATES - ADNAN

BN ready for political debates, says Tengku Adnan

adnan PUTRAJAYA: The Barisan Nasional is ever ready to take the opposition head on in debates, said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

He described debates such as the one held on Saturday between MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng as "healthy".

"We are open (to participating) if there are any (challenges),"

he said after handing out BR1M aid to 1,600 recipients here.

MIC Will Not Hold Debate With Opposition - Subramaniam

subra5-crop JOHOR BAHARU, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- The MIC has no plans to hold any debate with the opposition just like the recent debate between MCA and DAP, said its deputy president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.

However, he said the debate was a platform for the people to know the policies and stand of both parties on several major issues that were raised.

"I think it is an opportunity in which the people were informed on different views, situations and stance (of both parties) and the people can do a proper assessment for themselves.

"I feel it is not a necessity for us (to hold debate) but if there are people who want to do, they can do it...we will not do it," he said after launching the 'My Career 2012' carnival at the Skudai Multipurpose Hall here today.

Subramaniam said no one emerged as a winner or loser in the one-hour debate.

    So many debates, are they really necessary? Why not compete during the next general elections face to face?

    I think debating is good. It allows the public to learn more about the issues and candidates. In this way, the debates help educate voters, enabling them to make more informed decisions at the ballot box.

      Saya tidak fikir debat boleh selesaikan masalah. Debat ertinya puji diri sendiri dan burukkan pihak lawan. Macam mana boleh selesaikan masalah.

    parti pemerintah dan pembangkang boleh diibaratkan sebagai orang yang mengadu dan orang yang membuat kerja.. sudah tentulah pihak yang mengadu itu mempunyai kelebihan dan banyak point yang boleh diketengahkan berbanding dengan pihak yang melakukan kerja..

    Kehangatan berdebate semakin kelihatan. Debate tidak dapat menyelesaikan perkara yang sudah lepas.
