KOTA KINABALU Jan 7, 2012: The federal government has allocated through the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) in the Prime Minister’s Department a sum of RM110 million for Sabah this year, said the deputy director general of ICU, Datuk Ahmad Zaki Mohd Yusof Ansore here yesterday.

He said the money would be utilised to implement various development projects in rural areas throughout the state.

“The funds will be channeled to the Sabah State Development Office (PPNS) which will coordinate and evaluate the needs of the people with the support of the state government,” Ahmad Zaki told the media after a site inspection at the Kampung Mengkabong Mosque project in Tuaran, and upgrading and repair works of Masjid Bandaraya at Likas here, yesterday.

He said last year, the government spent RM105 million to implement development projects under the Public Infrastructure Projects (PIA) and Basic Infrastructure Projects (PIAS) throughout Sabah, which had been completed.

He said this year’s allocation of RM110 million would provide benefits to the people, especially those living in the rural areas.

Ahmad Zaki said he was satisfied with the smooth implementation of the two projects in Tuaran and here,

The RM1.2 million Kampung Mengkabong Mosque is now underway with eight per cent of the clearing and foundation works of the site completed.

The project was approved on November 22, 2007 and offered to the contractor on October 10, 2011.

According to Ahmad Zaki, the implementation of the project was delayed due to various technical problems and the land acquisition of the site.

“This project has only just begun and is expected to be completed by August 27 this year,” he said.

Ahmad Zaki said the upgrading and repair works on the male and female toilets at Masjid Bandaraya here had been completed at the cost of RM250, 000.

During the working visit Ahmad Zaki was accompanied by the director of Sabah State Development Office, Datuk Haji Matusin Sunsang and officials from the department. They also attended a briefing at the Penampang District Office and will be making a site inspection of development projects at Kampung Buayan, Penampang.

  8. Sabah sememangnya memerlukan peruntukan yang besar dalam pembangunan luar bandar memandangkan kawasan pedalaman/luar bandar Sabah meliputi 70% kawasan Sabah. bukan suatu usaha yang mudah untuk membangunkan Sabah sekaligus tetapi memerlukan satu jangka masa yang panjang. apapun, jika peruntukan diberikan berterusan saya pasti suatu hari nanti Sabah mampu menjadi sebuah negeri yang maju dalam semua aspek.
