10,000 ATTEND DUSUN CULTURAL PROCESSION

 10,000 attend Dusun cultural procession

Dec 13, 2011 : Ranau: More than 10,000 people turned up for the inaugural "Sunduan De Nunuk Ragang" cultural procession on Sunday.

image The historical event also saw more than 1,000 participants from 15 mukims staging their respective Dusun cultural performances.

The programme was jointly organised by the Sabah Tourism Board (STB) and Ranau District Office.

image Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Masidi Manjun mooted the idea so as to commemorate the legends of Dusun ethnicity.

image image Apart from giving exposure to the new generation on the legends of Nunuk Ragang, the programme is expected to become a cultural icon synonymous to the Ranau district.

image The cultural procession started at 8pm accompanied by performances from each mukim complete with traditional costumes, dances and music.

image The winner of the procession was Mukim Kundasang with its performance of the Suling Turali that involved 60 participants.

The team took home the main prize of RM5,000.

image Mukim Nalapak comprising 130 participants won second place with its "Mogumpi-Mongumba" and won RM3,000

image while Mukim Randagong with its "Mongiap", third place and won RM2,000.

image Other performances were Mangasok, Aki Nunuk Ragang, Mongigol, Mongimuhau, Bobolian, Sumirid, Mogondi and a traditional wedding of the Sungai ethnic group.

image Masidi said he is confident the effort would help inculcate a love for culture and subsequently awareness to preserve Sabah's ethnic cultures.

imageAlso present were Rural Development Minister, Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin, Ranau MP, Datuk Siringan Gubat, Chairman of Sabah Cultural Board, Datuk Seri Wences Angang, SCB General Manager, Datu Rusmadi Datu Sulai and District Officer, Faimin Kamin.

  6. pasti masih ada yang tidak tahu apa sebenarnya 'Nunuk Ragang'. sebenarnya, nama Nunuk Ragang menjadi identiti kaum Kadazan-Dusun di Sabah yang mempercayai asal-usul mereka bermula di kawasan ini. Tempat ini dikenali sebagai Pomogunan Nunuk Ragang, nama yang diambil sempena kewujudan pokok Nunuk yang suatu ketika dahulu dilihat kemerah-merahan akibat kehadiran ramai manusia. Ketika matahari memancar di ufuk barat, dari jam 1.00 hingga 4.00 petang, sekitar kawasan Tugu Nunuk Ragang akan dipenuhi orang ramai yang datang untuk mandi-manda di sungai Liwogu serta tidak kurang yang memanjat, bergayutan dan berjemur di atas dahan-dahan Nunuk. Suasana sebegini berlaku hampir setiap hari kecuali jika cuaca tidak mengizinkan atau berlaku banjir di kawasan ini. Apabila seseorang melihat pokok Nunuk dalam suasana seperti itu dari jarak jauh, sama ada dari puncak bukit mahupun dari sebarang sungai Liwogu, ia seolah-olah "aragang" dan keadaan ini sangat menakjubkan.

  7. pergh.. asal berkaitan dengan kebudayaan Sabah, pasti dapat sambutan yang menggalakkan.. lagi banyak program kebudayaan seperti ini lebih mudah kebudayaan sesebuah kaum itu dikenali diperingkat yang lebih tinggi.
