KOTA KINABLU 24th June, 2011: Four people have been arrested in connection with theft with one of them being an eight-year-old pupil!
The kid was among three suspects apprehended on suspicion of breaking into the residence of a higher learning institution lecturer between 11.50am until 4.30pm on June 18.
Disclosing this yesterday, City Police Chief, ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria, said they believed the young boy was used by his two older accomplices, aged 29 and 15, to enter the house after they had forced open the sliding window.
The suspects then stole jewelleries, a camera, laptop and cellphone, worth some RM20,000 all in all.
After the 29-year-old lecturer lodged a police report, the trio was picked up by the police in the vicinity of the higher learning institution at about 1.30pm the next day.
“My men recovered all the stolen goods from a house in the area,” said Sofi.
The suspects are being remanded under Section 457 Penal Code to facilitate further investigation.
In a second case, a 25-year-old man stole goods worth aboutRM10,000 from an electrical shop where he was previously hired as a salesman.
“Initial investigation showed that the suspect was employed there for 10 months before resigning a month ago,” Sofi said.
The suspect entered the shop on June 5 and stole four 32-inch Sony LCD TV, one 42-inch Sony LCD TV, two fruit processors and a water filter.
Police detained the suspect on June 19 at a telecommunication shop along Jalan Gaya and recovered all the stolen items there. Sofi said the suspect was believed to have entered the shop using a duplicate key.
The suspect is remanded under Section 380 Penal Code to facilitate further investigations.
