PERSATUAN DATUK-DATUK SABAH?

KOTA KINABALU: The prestige and dignity of awards conferred by the Sabah Head of State could now be better protected and enhanced with the formation of the Majlis Datuk-Datuk Negeri Sabah (MDNS).MDNS pro-tem president Datuk Iskandar Datuk Malik said the registration of MDNS was approved by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) on July 20, 2010.

He said with the registration of MDNS, it could now plan and carry out programs and activities for the welfare of the members and in the interest of holders of the honorific title of Datuk in Sabah.

“The MDNS will also serve as an avenue to foster the spirit of camaraderie among Datuks in the State and for them to contribute to the development and betterment of Sabah,” he  said.

Holders of the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK) which carries the title Datuk Seri Panglima and the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) which carries the title Datuk as well as recipients of Datuk title from other states are eligible to be a member of MDNS.

“I would like to invite all Datuk title holders in the State to join MDNS,” Iskandar said.

Those wishing to become a member of MDNS are advised to contact its office at 088-380208 for details or to contact pro-tem secretary-general Datuk Noni Said at 019-8616667 or any of the MDNS pro-tem committee members.

The other members of the MDNS pro-tem committee are Professor Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Kamaruzamam Ampon (deputy president), Datuk Paul Kong, Datuk Claudius Roman, Datuk Awang Sham Amit (vice-presidents), Datuk T C Goh (treasurer-general), Datuk Susan Wong (assistant treasurer-general) and Datuk Ahmad Baharom Titingan, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, Datuk Monggoh Orow (committee members).

Iskandar said the pro-tem committee has proposed Sept 29, 2010 for the official launching of MDNS by Head of State Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah.

“The pro-tem committee has started making the necessary preparation for the launching ceremony and we hope all Datuk title holders in the State would be able to attend,” Iskandar said.
