Clan of thieves who work in shifts
KANGAR: Does the family that steals together, stay together? Police here detained 25 people -- all of whom have blood ties with one another -- in connection with a spate of snatch thefts and pickpocket cases at TV3's Jom Heboh carnival over the weekend.
Police here detained 25 people -- all of whom have blood ties with one another -- in connection with a spate of snatch thefts and pickpocket cases at TV3's Jom Heboh carnival over the weekend.
The oldest among them is a 46-year-old woman, whose 18-year-old daughter is the youngest.
The clan of thieves from Sabah -- 12 men and 13 women -- are believed to have specialised in picking pockets and snatching bags at events involving huge crowds.
Police first detained four from the group at the carnival site, at Stadium Utama Kangar. They were about to pounce on an intended victim when the police team moved in.
The four then led police to a hotel in Kuala Perlis where the rest were detained.

It is understood the group worked in "shifts" -- one in the morning, one in the afternoon and the other at night.
State police chief Datuk Ghazali Mohd Amin said gold jewellery worth about RM27,000 were recovered from the suspects.
He said a diary containing the thieves' past thefts and their future ruses, was also recovered from one of them.
"They have done this on numerous occasions at events with large crowds and we believe they had come here for the sole purpose of stealing from the patrons."
Ghazali said police obtained remand orders to hold all 25 until Thursday to facilitate investigations.

CONDUCT THOROUGH PROBE ON SYNDICATE OF THIEVES ALLEGED TO BE FROM SABAH
“They are obviously very organised and even bothered to travel to various parts of Malaysia especially targeting big events with large crowds, a culture of crime which is unfamiliar in Sabah but rampant only in big cities. It sends a negative message and casts a bad image on Malaysians in general about Sabah,”
MP for Tawau, Datuk Chua Soon Bui
Check to see if these people really are Sabahans, they might be those immigrants who bought their citizenship.
BalasPadamBuat malu sahaja. Tolong jangan memburukan imej negeri kita.
BalasPadamIm positive they are illegals who somehow hold mycard...
BalasPadamInvestigation are needed. !!
BalasPadamAduii, is it true? they are Sabahan? ??
BalasPadamCheck balik status mereka, mesti PTI mengaku Sabahans.

Yes, I sense it too.hmmm ~~~
Shame on them, how will people look at Sabahans now?
BalasPadamSaya memang harap tindakan yang tegas akan diambil supaya perkara seperti ini tidak akan diulangi.
BalasPadamBaik paparkan semua muka dorang supaya kita boleh kenal rupa mereka.
BalasPadamWhy are they hiding their faces? Dare to commit crime, but dare not show their faces?
