PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he has accepted Datuk Seri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Abdul Taib’s decision to resign from his post as Deputy Tourism Minister, effective Monday.
Sulaiman wanted to resign, citing personal reasons. Najib said he accepted the decision after consulting with the Sarawak Chief Minister and state Barisan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is also Sulaiman’s father.
Sulaiman, who is the Kota Samarahan Member of Parliament and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Youth vice-president, tendered his resignation letter last month amidst talk that he was unhappy with his post, although Barisan leaders have denied this.
In a statement from his office on Monday, the Prime Minister said that Sulaiman remains the Kota Samarahan MP and thanked him for his services as deputy minister.
