Kota Kinabalu: There are sufficient avenues within Umno itself to consider specific allegations made by party members without having to reso rt to the courts or lodging police reports, said Sabah Umno assistant secretary Datuk Masidi Manjun.
"If everybody goes to the courts then I think we will never be able to hold our annual general meeting," he said when asked to comment on the police report lodged by two Umno Silam leaders for the Umno General Assembly scheduled for the end of this month to be stopped.
"Now, there is no use having a disciplinary board if we don't trust their decision. I think there are sufficient avenues within Umno itself, which would take care of specific allegations from members without resorting to court," he said.
"Any member can lodge police reports but I think the party will have to take action base on substance and not just police reports,".
"If I'm not mistaken the party Secretary-General has replied that nobody can stop Umno from holding its annual general meeting,".
"I think we have to see the whole picture and not just an alleged minor transgression, which has not been substantiated," he said.
