Keningau: Only 11,000 Indonesian workers had their levy paid by employers although there are 216,367 of them in Sabah, said Indonesian Acting Consul-General to Sabah, Rudhito Widagdo.
If true, this means a huge revenue loss to the Malaysian Government.
Most of the workers are in the plantations and only about 5,017 passports had been issued so far, Rudhito said, adding that others had their levy paid but had not reported to the Consul Office.
Met at the document registration drive in Tai Chi Hall here, he said the operation that started on Saturday had registered about 600 people.
"We have a commitment to work together with the Sabah Government in registering and providing freedom as well as protection to Indonesian citizens here,"
