KENINGAU: The State Development Office has been asked to take action against contractors who fail to meet the required work specifications when implementing projects here.
Bingkor state assemblyman, Justin Guka, said on Wednesday that he was making this call in response to many complaints he had received about the contractors’ work quality.
“I’m very disappointed about this and I hope the SDO will send staff to monitor the projects which are being implemented in my area,” he said.
He added that it showed that the contractors carried out their work irresponsibly.
“For example, the contractor entrusted to do repair works on the community hall here has actually made it worse instead of improving it,” he said.
He demanded that all the contractors meet the work specifications and not doing it solely to make profit.
“Villagers only get to have a community hall once in 40 to 50 years. But if it’s not built according to the work specifications it is a waste of government funds,” he added.
