Kota Kinabalu October 12, 2011: The police inspector who was injured in the murder of a 27-year-old self-employed woman, Kartini Borhan, in Taman Andika, Keningau, on Sept. 29, has been remanded.
State Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said the inspector is being investigated under Section 117 (abeting the commission of an offence).
Hamza reiterated that police would not leave any stone unturned and that action would be taken against anyone, even if it were one of his officers.
Police are looking into all aspects, including claims about a love affair.
Kartini's house was allegedly broken into at 4.50am that day and the police inspector said he was called by the woman for help regarding an intruder and sustained stab wounds on his back, legs and shoulders.
It was reported that the Inspector scuffled with the suspect after he saw the woman struggling with the suspect who wielded a sharp weapon, believed to be a knife. Kartini, a single mother, had a seven-year-old son from a previous marriage.
Her mother had earlier pleaded for justice for her daughter and said she could accept it if the fault was her daughter's but that if it was on the part of any police personnel, then action should be taken for the sake of public safety.
Meanwhile, Hamza also confirmed that police have received a report about the "disappearance" of a 47-year-old Sarawakian in Tawi Tawi, Southern Philippines last Wednesday.
"A report was lodged by a relative of the Sarawakian in Sabah but we are not sure whether he went missing or was kidnapped," he said.
Hamza said although the Sarawakian, Pang Chong Pong, went to the Southern Philippines through Semporna, police here would not be investigating as the "disappearance" of Pang occurred outside the country.
"But we will monitor the situation closely," he said.
According to an AP report, Pang, a businessman, was believed kidnapped by four Filipinos while buying live fish as Pondohan Lok Anki, Sitangkai, Tawi Tawi. Pang, who hailed from Kuching, was believed to be with three of his Filipino workers in two boats when he was kidnapped.
He was apparently on his way to buy fish.
It was believed that three of Pang's workers were detained by Philippine police for investigation.
It was also learnt that an Indian national who was married to a Filipina was also kidnapped the same day.
Pang's disappearance makes it two Malaysians still being held somewhere in southern Philippine waters.
The other is a Malay from Selangor who went to Tawi tawi to buy geckos late last year.
