Student hangs himself over footage
District Police Chief, DSP Zahari Mohamed said Japinus Angau, 17, of SMK Nabawan, hanged himself Monday following the recent fighting incident at their school two weeks ago.
The fight was apparently captured by his sister's friend through handphones and distributed around school as well as the family's village at Kg Lima, Nabawan.
Zahari said preliminary investigation revealed that Japinus may have been the target of ridicule from certain individuals and as a result decided to kill himself rather than to bear the shame following the incident.
According to the police report made by the boy's father Angau Sangorou, who also works at the school, Japinus hung himself with a nylon rope around his neck on a rambutan tree about 10 metres from their house.
