LABUAN 29th Nov 2011: Public toilets including those in eateries and schools on the island will be rated beginning next year.
Speaking at the World Toilet Day held at the Botanical Garden, here yesterday, Labuan Corporation advisory council chairman Datuk Yunus Kusu said the rating system which will be based on the number of stars given would be determined by health inspectors.
“All toilets that are found in public areas including those in coffee shops and schools will have to remain clean to earn any rating,” he said.
He said the cleanliness of the toilet would also determine the cleanliness level of an eatery.
If the outlet is clean and the toilet is dirty, the operator will not be given good rating.
“For eateries, we don’t want them just to serve in a clean premise but the toilets must also be clean,” he said adding that the move was to improve the cleanliness level of the island.
Labuan Corporation wants visitors to have a lasting impression when they visited Labuan.
