Ranau September 02, 2011: An extended family's Hari Raya preparations were dashed when burglars broke in and made off with about RM20,000 in cash and goods at Kg Kinasaraban, Kundasang, at about 3am on Aug. 28.
District Police Chief DSP Abdul Rahman Kassim said all 10 victims had earlier come to their relative's house to prepare for the Raya celebration.
We believe there were three foreign suspects in this case, he said.
"According to the victims, they were awakened by the burglars one after another with a parang pointed at their necks and demanding their valuables,"
he said, adding that the suspects were believed to have entered through the windows.
"The victims could not identify the suspects as they said it was too dark at that time," he stated.
Rahman, meanwhile, clarified that there was only one instance of 10 people being robbed and not 10 different robbery cases as reported in one of the local Chinese newspapers. Investigations are continuing, he added.
“Sebaik sahaja berjaya masuk ke dalam rumah mangsa salah seorang suspek kemudian mengejutkan semua ahli keluarga dengan mengacukan pedang samurai.
“Selepas itu, tiga suspek kemudian melarikan beberapa barang berharga milik semua mangsa yang dianggarkan bernilai RM21,000,”
