KENINGAU 1st August, 2011: A nine-year-old girl was sexually abused by her cousin aged 12 years, repeatedly but the latter was later released from police custody after his statement was taken.
District police chief, DSP Zahari Mohamed confirmed receiving a report from the victim who lives with her aunt at the quarters of the Keningau Golf Club since her parents divorced.
Zahari said the boy admitted committing the act five times between May 2010 to July this year while she was asleep.
He claimed that pornographic pictures on the internet and hearing lewd stories from friends had provoked him to commit the act.
Police later released him and have opened the case according to Section 354 of the Penal Code for outrage of modesty. A medical examination on the victim found lacerations on her private parts.
Meanwhile, two local men in their 20s were stabbed by an Indonesian man at an entertainment centre in town at about 3am on Saturday.
Zahari said they sustained several wounds on their backs but both are reported to be in stable condition.
The incident stemmed from a drunken argument and police are investigating the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.
He also reminded operators of entertainment centres to operate within the hours stipulated by the local authorities.
