COPS HURT IN GANG ARREST

21st April, 2011 SANDAKAN : Two policemen were injured while trying to arrest a member of an extortion gang.

Constable Muhammad Hida Shaffiq bin Aziz,20, was stabbed in the back and buttocks by the suspect.And, despite being injured, he and his colleague, Lance Corporal Hadi Hassan, managed to overpower and arrest the suspect.

Hadi Hassan, 31, sustained cuts to his left palm.

The injured Muhammad Hida was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Duchess of Kent Hospital and later transferred to the male surgical ward where he was reported to be in a stable condition.

The incident occurred in Kampung Sentosa Jaya, off Mile 3 Jalan Utara, 45 minutes after midnight on Tuesday.

The drama unfolded when four policemen from the Bandar Kim Fung police post on crime prevention patrol, received information on the extortion group and immediately rushed to the squatter colony.

They came across two suspects near the monsoon drain and identified themselves to the duo.

The policemen,in two teams chased after the two suspects when they took to their heels in different directions.

There was a scuffle between them as the suspect tried to resist arrest.

Muhammad Hida and Hadi succeeded in arresting the man and seized a knife from him.

Both policemen were wounded in the process.

The suspect, a Filipino aged,33, is believed to be a drug addict and a member of a group responsible for a series of extortion along Jalan Utara.

Sandakan police chief ACP Rowel Marong said they have already launched a manhunt for the second suspect and the rest of the extortion gang.

    Kurang ajar juga PTI2 nih...ini la satu sebab mengapa kita perlu menumpukan lebih banyak usaha kita ke arah menghalau semua PTI dr Sabah!

    bagi pendatang asing, sabah terlalu aman dan mudah untuk melakukan jenayah... patutnya penjenayah2 agresif seperti ini ditembak dahulu baru tahan..

    penjenayah tersebut perlu dikenakan hukuman yang berat kerana melakukan jenayah dan mencederakan anggota polis.
