IS GIVING AUTONOMY TO SABAH, THE ONLY PERMANENT SOLUTION TO RESTORE THE INITIAL INTENTION AND THE REAL SPIRIT OF FORMING MALAYSIA ON SEPT 16, 1963 ?

Give autonomy back to Sabah, says SAPP Treasurer

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) on Monday came out in support of the statement that the only permanent solution to restore the initial intention and the real spirit of forming Malaysia on Sept 16, 1963 is to give autonomy back to Sabah.

Treasurer General Datuk Wong Yit Ming said they supported Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan's statement that Sabah political parties should be allowed to manage Sabah, Sarawak politics managed by Sarawak and Semenanjung by Semenanjung parties and then form a coalition at Federal level.

Wong said the purpose of forming Malaysia by the country's forefathers was to have Sabah, Sarawak, Singapore and Malaya become equal partners with equal powers and status.

"Therefore, Sabah should not be in equivalent status with the existing states within Malaya because it was Malaya which signed the Malaysia agreement, not the individual states.

"So how can Sabah be accepted as one the thirteen states as mentioned by the present BN Government," he said in a statement here Monday.

Wong claimed that in accordance to Sabah political history, a lot of Sabah rights as outlined in the 20-point agreement had been surrendered to the Federal Government due to subjugation by the Federal Government leaders.

"Therefore claims by a Sabah Umno leader that the amendment of Sabah constitution and the downgrade of Sabah rights were voluntary consent was an insult to the wisdom of Sabahans," he said.

SAPP again calls for a Sabah Identity Card

at the moment for a person from Sabah and whose parents are obviously from Sabah but born in other states their MyKad code number is not "12" but that of the other state.

For instance, the IC of a child born in Kuala Lumpur would have the number "01" even though both his parents are Sabahans.

  1. the agreement between Malaya, sabah and sarawak in forming malaysia should be respect and should not be modified or making any changes which is already stated in Malaysia Constitution..sabah and sarawak was an equal partner with equal powers and status with malaya, singapore and brunei to forming Malaysia...then, autonomy should be give back to sabah and sarawak...

  3. we already accept that sabah is one of the state in malaysia, not as country in malaysia... no need to mention that 'Sabah political parties should be allowed to manage Sabah',, seems like this issues is being used as political interest.. just claim our special rights....

  5. No autonomy or not, we only want back the rights to control our State without any problem from the WM. Ignorant politicians are more like to forgot the importance of the 20-points and the reason why it was made in the first place..bleh..
