Ranau: Police arrested a 38-year-old local woman on suspicion of buying and selling stolen road construction items worth RM200,000 in a second handshop at Jalan Lasing, here, Monday.

It was learnt that the items, comprising 11 moulds and panel irons, belonging to Syarikat Perwira Progresif were stolen from the Narambai road junction construction site at Jalan Ranau-Tambunan, on April 2.

District Police Chief DSP Suhaimy Hashim said a police report was lodged the next day and, acting on tip-off, police managed to trace the stolen goods in a second-hand shop.

"Upon inspection, police found that the shopowner had bought the items and we detained the woman to facilitate investigations.

"Police are also looking for her husband, in his 40s, who is in Kuala Lumpur at the moment.

Based on investigation, the suspect(s) had transported the items using a van," he said.

Suhaimy said the couple would be investigated under Section 411 of the penal Code for dishonestly receiving stolen property, which carries a maximum imprisonment of five years or fine or both.
