Weekend fishing trip turns ugly
SANDAKAN: A weekend fishing trip at Kampung Mangkadait in Jalan Telupid-Ranau ended in tragedy for two friends when one of them drowned after falling into Sungai Labuk.
Twenty-one-year-old Sabree Minus drowned after falling into the river. He and another friend had gone fishing in a small boat around 5pm on Sunday.
Firemen from Sandakan and Ranau responded to a distress call on Sunday and immediately launched a search and rescue operation to locate the victim.
Sabree’s body was found floating at 10.20am on Tuesday about 1 kilometre from where the incident happened.
