EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO LIST OUT SCHOOLS WHICH COMPUTER LABS HAVE BEEN LEFT ABANDONED AND SUBMIT TO THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION FOR FURTHER ACTION

Avoid delay in computer lab projects: Masidi

KOTA KINABALU: Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun has asked contractors tasked to build computer labs in schools in Sabah to honour the requirements stated in their contract.

Masidi, who is also State Education Exco, said that this is important to avoid delay in project completion.

He noted that there are computer labs which were supposed to be built in rural schools were left abandoned.

“For example, there are computer labs in schools in Banggi Island and Kota Belud which have been left abandoned (and) the contracts have been terminated,” he said in respond to a report by a national daily that some computer labs in schools in the State have been abandoned.

Masidi could not hide his disappointment with the contractors responsible and urged the government to offer contracts to contractors whom they are certain could do the job from start to finish.

He also asked the Education Department to list out schools which computer labs have been left abandoned and submit to the Ministry of Education for further action.
