SARAWAK TO REQUEST FOR MORE FUNDS TO CURB SMUGGLING

There was also a need to station more enforcement personnel at entry points to monitor illegal activities.

"There are many 'jalan tikus' (illegal routes) along the borders. So it is a challenging task for the enforcement personnel to monitor the state's more than 1,000km-long borders,"

Entry points should equipped with scanning machines. Currently, only the Tebedu entry point has the facility.

Customs' intelligence unit would also gather profiles of those identified to be in the risk groups.

"So if these persons are seen entering the country through these check points, they will be subjected to a thorough check,"
