NO APPROVALS GIVEN TO OIL RIG EXPEDITION

Boat in desert. DahabThe oil rig expedition organised by the Kelantan government last Wednesday did not have approval of the Marine Department and the Fisheries Department.

"I had been told that LKIM did not approve of it as the application was received late, one day before the trip, and that it was sent by fax.

"The organiser told LKIM it was a fishing and recreation programme by Pengkalan Kubor state constituency, not a trip to an oil rig,"

"I only knew that the expedition went to the oil rig and not fishing after it returned to the jetty the next day,"
