RANAU, 3rd June, 2009: Minister of Rural Development Datuk Ewon Ebin urged all district officers in the state to submit the people’s applications for assistance to the government to assess before any allocation is approved.
He said the district office was responsible for monitoring the people’s needs.
“There are times when we hear people are complaining that they are being sidelined from receiving much needed assistance from the government. This will not have happened if district officers had not failed to properly convey the needs of the people,” he said. He was speaking at the opening of the Kaamatan festival for Kg Maringkan, Kg Belisuk and Kg Kinorotuan in the Paginatan constituency.
The minister said the complaints came about due to weakness in delivery and exchange of information between the people and local leaders.
He said he would be meeting all district officers to decide the best means for the government to provide assistance to rural areas in the district.
