'I, I, YOU, YOU' IS NOT APPLICABLE IN 1MALAYSIA CONTEXT – SALLEH KALBI

Rapped - those who pick and choose which to attend

image Kunak, June 16, 2009: Silam Member of Parliament Hj Salleh Kalbi has claims that some community leaders and government officers in the district are practising an unhealthy culture of "disagreeing among themselves".

Criticising Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Chairmen, village heads and government officers, he said their action could cause disunity.

He cited their boycott of certain functions and of being selective in their attendance, claiming they have formed "groups" among themselves and are only willing to go depending on who the V.I.P would be.

He stressed that the 'I, I, You, You' divisive concept is not applicable in the context of the Prime Minister's 1Malaysia which emphasises on "people first".

"If such pessimistic thinking and self-interest among you persist, then the objective of a united Community will not be achieved and at the end of the day will hurt your own reputation," he warned.

Salleh, who is also a United Nations Universal Peace Federation Ambassador, said the community must work hand in hand in order to ensure the success of the Government's mission and plans for the wellbeing of the population.

He said such negative attitude by the groups would only confuse the community and erode the harmonious environment that has been achieved thus far.
