“WE HAVE TO SEND THEM OUTSIDE OF SABAH”

pic_isa KOTA KINABALU: Queen Elizabeth Hospital is referring patients who are suffering from diseases that require urgent treatment such as cancer to medical facilities outside the State.

“However, there are some patients who refused to go out of the State for treatment,” said Sabah Health Director, Dr Marzukhi Md Isa.

“As far as we are concerned, if they need to get attention as soon as possible, we have to send them outside of Sabah,”.

“We don’t have enough space,”.

“Eventhough we are not having problems in that sense, we expect more problems later on,”.

Dr Marzukhi also commented on the recent proposal by the Health Ministry to take over the vacant Wisma Khidmat building (adjacent to Wisma Muis) to replace the QEH tower block which has been declared unsafe.

When asked if the building was suitable, he replied: “That one I am not sure.”

Nevertheless he is asking the people of Sabah to be patient and promised that at their level, they want to get the best for the people.

“That is my promise,” he said.
