NO BY ELECTION

KOTA KINABALU, March 13 (Bernama) -- The much anticipated showdown between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in a by-election in Pensiangan will not happen as the Federal Court here today overturned the Election Court's decision to nullify the election of Tan Sri Joseph Kurup to the parliamentary seat in the general election last year.

"I feel so relieved. After the Election Court nullified my election as Pensiangan Member of Parliament, I could not do anything as an MP.

"But I am very thankful because the rule of law prevailed and I was given the opportunity to appeal,"

Kurup also believed that the BN candidates in the upcoming by-elections in Bukit Gantang, Bukit Selambau and Batang Ai would win following his victory in his appeal.
