Suluk group: Include us in the panel
Sandakan June 03, 2012: The United Suluk Community Organisation (Usco) lauded the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the setting up of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to address the illegal immigrant issue in Sabah.
Its President, Bentan Alamin, said the setting up of the RCI reflected the sincerity of the Government in addressing the issue that is known by the people to be very a complicated matter.
However, he hoped Usco together with Parti Kebenaran, which he is representing would be included as panel members of the RCI so that they could also voice out their views.
"I believe it is time that we discuss to find the truth and not turn the mass media as the battle field," he said, adding that issues related to the RCI had also been raised by political parties.
"The Suluk and Bajau communities are natives of this State and not migrants from the neighbouring country coming into Sabah without any document," he said.
He also dread to imagine the feeling of someone who had valid identity documents for years but still considered as migrant.
