Musa: Use social media machinery for 13th GE
KOTA KINABALU May 28, 2012: Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth cyber troopers should play its role to create a new media with real, right and responsible information, said chief minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
He said that at the closing of the Sabah BN Youth cyber troopers workshop at Grand Borneo Hotel yesterday, adding the new media, which is the internet is another alternative for the government to explain and to give more understanding on the facts that have been twisted by certain parties.
“I urged Sabah BN Youth to move their machinery and psychological warfare in an effective way by being closer with the people at all levels, especially the younger generations and new voters.
“It can be done through the new media by surfing the internet and exploring blogs, Facebook, Twitter and Myspace as the the new media is the best medium to interact and understand their needs,” he said.
Musa’s speech was read by deputy chief minister Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin who also launched the official Facebook page for Sabah BN Youth cyber troopers called Unit Media Baru Sabah at the closing ceremony yesterday.
He also said the cyber troopers should establish relationship with relevant government agencies such as Institute for Development Studies (IDS) to get the rigth information before channeling to the people.
Meanwhile, Sabah BN Youth chief, Awang Kadin Tang said the three days workshop have been focusing on the skills of using applications in Facebook, blogs, twitter, youtube and also propaganda technique according to the existing law and guidelines.
He urged the 85 participants to be positive with the challenging political landscape in the country.
“We are faced with active opposition parties and in the same time the people are more educated. We often heard that other countries around the world are demanding for more public speaking by the youth.
“With the fact that voices from the youth are more fresh, energetic, sincere and brave, we are hoping that we should convince the people to trust our struggle,” he said.
