TWO ITI GRADUATES HONOURED FOR ACHIEVEMENT AT WORLDSKILLS LONDON

Two ITI graduates honoured for achievement

SANDAKAN 16th Jan 2012: Two graduates of the Industrial Training Institute here and in Labuan, who did Malaysia proud at the international skills competition in London last year, were honoured by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman yesterday.

Ng Vui Chen, 22, of Sandakan and Stanley Timing, 21, of Tamparuli were accorded the honours at the Sandakan ITI here for their achievement at Worldskills London 2011.

Ng had achieved the ninth position in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning contest while Stanley took the 14th position in the Automobile Technology contest. Each of them won a medal of excellence with the accumulation of more than 500 points.

Speaking at the event, Musa said the success of the two graduates was consistent with the approach of the state government, which gives priority to efforts to produce excellent and highly skilled human capital.

“The success of Ng and Stanley proves that we are not short of talents and capabilities in achieving excellence at the global level.

“Most importantly, with determination, spirit, discipline and high commitment, we can succeed and match participants from the developed countries,” he said.

Ng is employed as an assistant vocational training officer at the Sandakan ITI while Stanley is pursuing a diploma in automotive technology at the Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC) in Melaka.
