ANOTHER NGO OBJECT RCI ON ILLEGAL & PROJECT IC?

Genuine Malaysians won’t be affected by RCI – Amanah Keningau

KENINGAU Dec 26, 2011: The setting up of Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate into the illegal immigrants issue and Project IC in Sabah will not affect the position of genuine Malaysians, said Angkatan Amanah Merdeka (Amanah) Keningau.

Its protem chairman, Paul Kadau, said there should be no reason for objecting to the establishment of RCI.

“They do not need to worry over the establishment of this RCI if they are true citizens of Malaysia,”

he said.

If they were genuine Malaysian citizens and natives of Sabah, their position would not be affected with the setting up of RCI, he said.

Paul was referring to the leaders of Sabah Da’wah Welfare Organisation (PEKIDA) and Rantau Putra Association of Sandakan who protested the establishment of RCI.

At the same time, Paul wanted to know Umno’s stand on the establishment of RCI.

“So far, there is no response from Umno on the establishment of RCI which was requested by BN component leaders and opposition parties in this state,” he said.

Meanwhile in his written statement, Paul said that Amanah had asked the Federal Government, especially the Minister of Home Affairs to postpone the issuance of MyKad next year until the dubious record of identification documents had been cleaned up.

“Amanah asked the Federal Government not to disappoint the majority of the people of Sabah who have asked for the RCI before the renewal of MyKad and 13th general election.

“RCI is important to investigate allegations concerning the awarding of identification documents to foreigners in this state,” he said.

“I also asked the government to drop the word ‘bin’ and ‘binti’ from the names of the Christian community in their MyKad,” he said.

On the objection by Pekida chairman Datu Akjan Ali Muhammad and chairman of the Rantau Putra Association of Sandakan, Haji Muhammadin Haji Mustapha, to the establishment of RCI, he said that Amanah Keningau was looking into the statements of the two leaders before making a police report.

“I am not worried or afraid about the RCI because I am a native of Sabah and the locals know the name of the village, district and hospital where I was born.

“I know who are my ancestors, but if we are in doubt about the nature of our heart, of course we’re worried over the establishment of RCI,” he said.

Paul said Amanah Keningau fully supported BN component leaders comprising PBS, Upko, PBRS, LDP, MCA and Gerakan, including opposition parties, who are demanding the Federal Government and the Prime Minister to set up the RCI.

He said even children under the age of 12 also know how to ask their parents why a foreigner has an IC.

“Several books have been published in relation to evidence of IC being issued to foreigners. In fact, a memorandum on this issue had also been submitted by Upko deputy president Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing to the Ministry of Home Affairs as evidence of this Project IC,” he said.

He also urged the government to check the applications for 1 Malaysia Special Assistance (BRIM) to ensure it only benefits true Malaysians.
