KOTA KINABALU: Once again, foreigners have been identified as the main contributors to the increase in crime rate in Sabah last year, where they were accounted for 2,497 cases in the crime index for 2008 – 623 cases more than the previous year of 1,874 cases.
Disclosing this was the Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar while replying to a question from the Tawau MP, Datuk Chua Soon Bui who inquired about the factors contributing to the increase of Sabah crime rate last year which was 15 per cent more than 2007 and the preventive measures taken to curb the 17 per cent increase of rape crimes, especially those involving under-aged girls.
