No second chance to topple BN – Bumburing
KOTA KINABALU 7/10/2012: The opposition must go all out to win in the coming 13th general election as the opportunity to topple the Barisan Nasional (BN) will not come again, says Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing.
The Tuaran member of parliament said, “if we do not take this opportunity in the 13th general election, don’t dream that we will again have the opportunity to topple.”
According to the former UPKO deputy president, BN through Umno will do all it can to strengthen its hold if it wins the coming election.
“So ‘ini kali lah’ (this is the time) to topple BN and change the government as it is the only way to get back our right,” he said at the forum on the illegal immigrants and citizenship in Sabah which was organised by Pakatan Rakyat here yesterday.
He pointed out that in Selangor, there are a lot of people whose address is listed as in Sabah but they have never put a foot down on Sabah’s soil.
“This is really worrying and disappointing because there are people getting MyKad in a short period of time while locals, especially those who are born of mixed marriages, are made to wait a long time only to be told by the National Registration Department that their applications were rejected,” he lamented.
Bumburing stressed that the illegal immigrant issue in Sabah is akin to a chronic disease which however is not too late to treat.
“This is the time for us to be united and fight this unfair treatment of Sabahans because the first duty of the government is to protect its citizens,” he said.
Bumburing also told the forum that Sabahans and Malaysians are not anti migrants and there is no country in the world that has the same sentiment as long as the migrants enter the country legally and apply for citizenship through the right process.
“What we are against is the issuance of Malaysian citizenship through dubious means,” he stressed.
