Police find air guns in burglary suspect’s home
LABUAN 11th September, 2012: A suspected foreign burglar has got himself into deeper trouble after police found two air guns in his rented house in Kg Durian Tunjung, here.
The guns – Benjamin Special and Sharp Innova – were seized along two boxes which have 100 bullets, Labuan police chief Supt Adzhar Othman said yesterday.
Police have earlier raided the house after learning that it was used to store stolen items.
Among the items found were a motorbike frame, two TVs, laptop and Samsung Galaxy Tab all worth about RM20,000.
“A search in a room yielded the weapons’ find,” he said adding that the suspect in his 20s led police to the arrest of two accomplices in Kota Kinabalu and in Kuala Lumpur.
The second accomplice was nabbed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport as he was making his way to Palembang, Indonesia, Supt Adzhar said.
Police are looking for four more accomplices and including two women who are believed to have gone into hiding on the island.
“We know the identity of the remaining suspects and we are confident of nabbing them soon,” he said.
The three suspects have been remanded to help police in the investigations. They are being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code which carries a 14-year-old jail term.
The main suspect is also being investigated under Section 8 (a) of the Firearms Act 1960 which carries a jail term of up to seven years and RM10,000 or both.
The arrests have helped police to solve six house burglaries reported on the island this year, he added.
Supt Adzhar said police have solved 48 per cent of the 190 burglaries reported last year.
