TAWAU 11th May, 2012: A fight over a broken bed resulted in the death of a worker, which landed a 38-year-old foreign labourer in prison.
Rodanti Duhay Longsud was jailed 10 years by the Sessions’ Court yesterday for the killing of his 29-year old workmate at about 6am in Ong Timun camp, Luasong, on Jan 29 this year.
Sessions’ Court judge Egusra Ali heard that Rodanti was arrested at the Tawau hospital on Jan 30 as he was receiving treatment for head injuries following a fight with the workmate.
According to the facts, the Indonesian workmate was stabbed on the chest and died in the hospital.
DPP Shukor Abu Bakar said the workmate had brought a broken bed to Rodanti’s room and an argument ensued.
Rodanti took out a knife and stabbed the workmate once and the latter retaliated by arming himself with a machete.
