PATAI WITH DUBIOUS MYKADS WARNED NOT TO VOTE

Malaysians with dubious MyKads advised not to vote

TAWAU April 12, 2012: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) state election director Datuk Kong Hong Ming advised those Malaysian citizens who obtained their citizenship through dubious means to stay away from the 13th general election.

“We expect them to respect our laws and democratic rights. We therefore ask them not to interfere in our electoral system and let genuine Sabahans elect the government of their own choice without any interference from them,” he said yesterday.

Kong said it was good for foreigners to come and work in Sabah provided they abide by the laws and order of the state.

He said as a human to another human, both should respect each other’s rights, where Sabahans also expected them to respect our laws and democratic rights.

Give EC power to act against dubious voters – DAP

KOTA KINABALU April 12, 2012: The Election Commission (EC) must be given independent power to act against dubious voters, said DAP Sabah state assistant secretary Junz Wong.

He said EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof had revealed that he was consulting his legal advisors on whether the commission could be given the power to delete names of dubious voters.

At present the commission is not given any power to remove names of voters from the electoral rolls even if there were doubts over their authenticity.

“EC must be given its independent power to act against dubious voters’ names,” he said.

Junz claimed there had been too many cases to prove the irregularities in the electoral rolls but nothing had been done to address the issue.

Recently the National Registration Department (NRD) conducted a very thorough verification exercise and 42,051 of the names in the electoral rolls were doubtful.

Although the status of the 42,001 registered voters was doubtful, the EC chairman said there was nothing the commission could do.

DAP wanted the relevant ministry to come clean with this whether or not EC will be given the independent power to delete dubious names when deemed necessary and doubtful.

Junz who is also the DAPSY KK Youth chief, said DAP Sabah is supportive of Bersih 3.0 + Himpunan Hijau 3.0 rally to fight for a fair and clean electoral system.

Junz refuted Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Tan Sri Abdul Aziz’s claim that that was no valid reason to hold Bersih 3.0.

PSC has only agreed to implement indelible ink and extend campaign to 10 days. Out of Bersih’s eight demands, only one of the people’s wishes has been fulfilled.

The Bersih + Himpunan Hijau 3.0 rally is not only going to be held in Kuala Lumpur but also Sabah this time.

Junz encouraged every concerned Malaysian citizen to come out and join this noble movement to fight for our constitutional rights.
