KDM M'sia declines comment on RCI

image Penampang Dec 28, 2011: KDM Malaysia President Datuk John Ambrose declined comment on recent statements by Pekida Chairman Mohd Akjan Mohd. Ali's condemning those seeking a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to probe the illegal immigrant issue in Sabah.

"I am not a party president but only the leader of an Non Government Organisation. Since my party is Umno, the party's stand on issues such as this is we leave it to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister ,"

he said, at the KDM Malaysia Christmas Open House at Dewan Kebudayaan Penampang, Tuesday.

According to Organising Chairman and KDM Malaysia Vice President-cum-Treasurer Datuk Peter Anthony, the Christmas programme is for the local community in Penampang centered on unity.

"This is the way we celebrate a festival in the state, we do it together in the spirit and concept of 1Malaysia.

"Today's event is an example of where whenever there is a festival all the races will come together to celebrate together and this practice should be continued in years to come.

"The response from the local community all these years has also be very encouraging and good," he said.

Anthony said he was expecting between 5-10,000 visitors but because it was a working day, many more were unable to turn up.

Among the activities at the event were Christmas caroling, Christmas lucky draws and singing performances by local artistes such as Jimmy Palikat and Abu Bakar Ela.

Also present was State Legistative Speaker Datuk Seri Salleh Tun Said Keruak and Local Government and Housing Assistant Minister cum Kawang Assemblyman Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar.
