MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION, LEAVE THE BULK OF SABAH NATURAL GAS FOR THE BENEFIT OF SABAHAN

Plea to leave some gas for Sabah

disabled_masidi_01 Nov 30, 2011 : STATE Culture, Tourism and Environment Minister, Datuk Masidi Manjun, urged Petronas and Federal Government to address a long standing anomaly that the bulk of all natural gas produced offshore Sabah is pumped to Bintulu, Sarawak.

Masidi made the call at the signing ceremony of the Renewable Energy Power Purchase Agreement (REPPA) for the 30MW Geothermal Power Plant Project between SESB and the Tawau Green Energy Sdn Bhd (TGE), at Kimanis Ballroom, Kinabalu Hyatt Regency.

384560_186397471450649_100002411930044_377619_1743461706_n Noting the presence of prominent Sarawakians such as Tan Sir Leo Moggie, and TNB President-cum-CEO, Dato' Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Masidi said since the natural resource came from Sabah and that Sabah needs it bad enough, it is only right that Petronas should not sell it all to the foreigners but leave some for the State.

Masidi, who earlier hailed the arrival of a new era of green energy in Sabah, said he had to criticise the Government (Federal) from time to time even though it may not be popular, for the benefit of Sabah and for them (Federal Government and agencies ) to make the right decision.

    Agree, Sabah's natural gas should be used for the benefits of Sabahans. We need these natural gas for power generating to reduce electricity shortage in the state.
