KK-RANAU BUS FARES UP SOON FROM THE PRESENT RATE RM15 TO NEW RATE RM21 ?

KK-Ranau bus fares up soon

March 08, 2011 Ranau: Bus fares from Ranau to Kota Kinabalu will be increased after the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) agrees to the proposal.

Secretary to Ranau Bumiputera Operators and Drivers of Rental Car/Bus Association (Pakas), Faustine Thomas said this during Pakas's annual general meeting officiated by Political Secretary to Rural Development Ministry, Japirin Sahadi who represented the Minister Datuk Dr Ewon Ebin.

He said the present rate is RM15 and that the new rate is RM21, which is based on 20 sen per kilometre.

"However, the association could reconsider the rate and would monitor any changes from time to time according to passengers' needs," he said.

It would also depend on the response from passengers who use buses from Ranau to KK because there are also the taxi and multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) services.

Faustine urged Pakas members, 48 in all, to provide good and quality services to passengers, including tourists, who visit the district.

"Members must give a good image, be responsible and always prioritise safety to passengers, especially now that Ranau has been proposed as a World Heritage Site," he said.

On other developments, Haisin Noriman successfully defended his post as Pakas chairman while Masdi Hamzah, deputy chairman.

Suadi Sapin is assistant secretary while Vitus Sading, treasurer and Mositun Daransun, information.

The committee members comprised of Materin Lajiman, Kuwasa Sidon, David Jemut, Raymond Dihol, Alexius Jonnes, Laimin Lajimin and Dusitin Samidau.
