Be serious in appointing Sabahans to head depts: Upko
Penampang: United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) is concerned over the lack of seriousness by the authorities to promote Sabahans to head Federal departments in Sabah in the spirit of the Borneonisation of the civil service. Upko Secretary-General Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau said Upko headquarters understands that Sabahans are more than qualified to head both the Customs and Immigration Department in Sabah.
"But we heard from the grapevine that officers from elsewhere are again being appointed respectively as Director of Customs and Immigration," he said.
"This is an opportunity for the Federal Government to enhance the participation of Malaysians from Sabah by giving them opportunity to be the head of department."
Far from being parochial, Madius said it is only appropriate that equal opportunities be given to Malaysians from Sabah to be in the key decision-making of the government machinery.
Upko hopes the most senior Sabahan from the Customs and Immigration Departments are appointed respectively as the new Director for the Sabah office, he said.

"BN component parties have done their part. I think the Federal and State governments should now solve our outstanding problems by getting the relevant authorities to do work expected of them by the Constitution and by the people," he said acknowledging that any erosion of public confidence in BN is dangerous for the coalition and must be addressed before it is too late.

Sabahans may get to head Customs, Immigration here
The Customs and Immigration Departments in Sabah will probably be the next Federal Departments to have Sabahans as Directors for its Sabah offices.
Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Aman, is confident there would be no problem, considering there are already Federal department offices in Sabah headed by Sabahans.
"It is already happening at the Education Department, Health Department and Intan in Sabah,"
I hope the government will consider the recommendation made by Donald and all the BN component parties in Sabah for the benefit of the people of Sabah.

Sabah have lot of capable people and now is the time for Fed Gov to consider to promote Sabahan to higher level of Fed Gov post.
BalasPadamyang benar2 berkelayakan memang patut diberikan peluang tidak kira samada beliau dari Sabah atau pun SM. bagi saya yang paling penting sekali hapuskan budaya mengutamakan keluarga, saudara dan kenalan dalam setiap jawatan. biasa berlaku dibeberapa jabatan kerajaan di Sabah dimana kekosongan jawatan hanya diberikan kepada mereka yang mempunyai hubungan atau rapat dengan pegawai2 di jabatan berkenaan. disini mereka telah mengabaikan individu2 yang benar2 berkelayakan.
